What Dallas will take for free, and when you still need a dumpster

McCommas Bluff Landfill: free for residents

Dallas residents can haul their own household waste to McCommas Bluff Landfill, 5100 Youngblood Road, at no charge, in a car, station wagon, pickup or a trailer under 15 feet. Bring a current Texas driver’s license with a Dallas address or a current Dallas water bill. Hours: Monday–Friday 5 am–8 pm, Saturday 6 am–4 pm, closed Sunday. Cover loose loads or pay $40; tires are limited to 6 a year.

Monthly brush and bulky pickup

The city’s curbside brush and bulky collection is capped at 10 cubic yards a month, and anything over is billed at $60 per 5 cubic yards. It will not take concrete, plaster, lumber, dirt, rocks or other construction and demolition debris. That is exactly the remodel and teardown waste a roll-off is for.

The brush and bulky rules come from the city’s pilot-program page, which says regular collection has resumed. Check your collection week with Dallas 311.
